Huawei has launched a new smartphone in its Honor series, the Honor 3C Play (DB LINK), days ahead of the company's September 4 IFA 2014 event.

Currently listed as 'out of stock' on the Huawei Mobile Shop website, the Honor 3C Play is priced at $176.90 (roughly Rs. 10,600). The smartphone's global availability details are not yet known.

The Huawei Honor 3C Play is an affordable version of the Honor 3C, which was launched in India in May.

The dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) smartphone with dual standby runs the now-dated Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, just like the Honor 3C. There is no word on whether Huawei will be issuing the Honor 3C Play and Android KitKat OS update.

The smartphone comes with a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display with OTP single screen technology. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 MediaTek (MTK6582) processor with a Mali 400 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The Honor 3C Play comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable up to 32GB.

It sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while there is a 2-megapixel front-facing camera also onboard. On the connectivity front, the Honor 3C Play includes 3G, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, GPS, and Bluetooth 4.0 options.

The Huawei Honor 3C packs a 2000mAh battery, measures 142.2x72.3x9.4mm and weighs 156 grams. It comes in Black and White colour variants.

Huawei is expected to launch its much-rumoured Ascend Mate 3 phablet at the IFA 2014 event, alongside a new Honor-branded smartphone.

The rumoured Ascend Mate 3 that's expected to be launched at the pre-IFA 2014 event is a phablet that was leaked in an image last month, alongside purported specifications. The company may also launch the recently leaked Huawei Ascend Mate 7.
