Microsoft has confirmed that certain Windows Phone handsets will support OS update downloads to microSD cards.

Unfortunately, the support comes only for select Lumia smartphones - specifically those running Lumia Denim update or the latest Developer Preview and sporting build number 8.10.14219.341 and higher.

The firm has also provided a list of compatible handsets - Lumia 530, Lumia 530 Dual SIM, Lumia 630, Lumia 630 Dual SIM, Lumia 635, Lumia 636, Lumia 638, Lumia 730 Dual SIM, Lumia 735 and Lumia 830.

The handsets that include microSD card support but are not included in the list are Lumia 520, Lumia 525, Lumia 620, Lumia 625, Lumia 720, Lumia 820, Lumia 1320 and Lumia 1520. The firm did not mention why the older generation Lumia smartphones are not included.

Microsoft further mentioned on its FAQ page that users can check which OS build their handsets are sporting by navigating to App list > Settings > About > More Info.

As a part of the Lumia Denim update, Microsoft last week rolled out the Lumia 535 touchscreen bug fix in select regions. The change log as mentioned in the post includes touchscreen performance improvements, availability of Cortana in more markets, easy switching on/off of data connection from the Action Center, scheduling time for installing updates, and other stability and performance improvements.

To recall, the touchscreen issue highlighted convincingly in a video showed the Microsoft Lumia 535 struggling with a touchscreen sensitivity issue and inconsistent tracking of touch input. It was recommended that until the Redmond-based tech firm rolls out an update, users can switch off the Screen Magnifier feature, which can be found under Settings > Ease of Access option, to avoid the issue to some extent.
