Micromax Canvas Xpress With 1.3GHz Quad-Core SoC Launched at Rs. 6,999

Micromax has announced its first smartphone of the month, the Canvas Xpress, priced at Rs. 6,999. The smartphone will be exclusively available on Flipkart starting December 8.

The Micromax Canvas Xpress runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box and offers dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) functionality. It features a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480x854 pixel) display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core (unspecified) processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.

The primary camera on the Micromax Canvas Xpress has a 5-megapixel resolution and flash, while there is also a 0.3-megapixel front facing camera onboard. The internal storage on the Canvas Xpress is not yet mentioned, though it can be expanded via microSD card (up to 32GB).

The device's connectivity options are also not mentioned. A 1950mAh battery backs the Canvas Xpress. Micromax also announced Aircel users can avail 500MB of free mobile Internet data per month for the first six months on their Canvas Xpress smartphones.

The Canvas Xpress also features preloaded apps like HotKnot (MediaTek's NFC-like solution) and Smart Wake. With the former, users can tap screen-to-screen for sharing images, videos, music and browsing URLs. With Smart Wake the Canvas Xpress users can open apps with customised gestures directly from the lockscreen.
