OnePlus 2, the upcoming flagship by the Chinese smartphone maker that is set to launch on July 27, continues to stay in the spotlight as the company has now given details on the handset's RAM. The announcement was made on the OnePlus forum on Tuesday, soon after the firm's Twitter post that revealed the upper price limit of the device.

According to the post, the OnePlus 2 will sport 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. This also goes in line with the last week's report that showed OnePlus 2 model codenamed "ONE A2003" listed in GeekBench results with 4GB of RAM. So far an A2001 model with 3GB of RAM and a A2005 model with no accompanying details have been spotted.

OnePlus says it is banking on LPDDR4 RAM as it would deliver faster loading times, fluid gameplay, and better power efficiency. As compared to LPDDR3, the LPDDR4 RAM will be offering double the bandwidth performance on OnePlus 2. Also, LPDDR4 RAM uses a lower operating voltage decreasing from 1.2V to 1.1V. "And with speeds up to 32GB/s, it is also twice as fast as the LPDDR3. It offers optimal support for power-saving low frequency mode that brings clock speeds down when performing those everyday and necessary tasks," added the forum.

As per OnePlus, the upgraded RAM will give a boost to the user experience on the OnePlus 2 when gaming or using power-intensive features such as slow-motion video and face recognition. "Unlike 32-bit processors that can only utilize up to 3GB of RAM, our 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor uses all 4GB to its maximum potential."

After the detailing of RAM, what we know about the OnePlus 2 so far is that it will be priced between $322 (roughly Rs. 20,500) and $450 (roughly Rs. 28,500), would feature a fingerprint sensor, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 SoC, USB Type-C port, 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, and most probably, a metal build.
