OnePlus has finally launched its first smartphone, the One, with some staggering specifications at a rather low price.

The Chinese smartphone startup has announcedthat the OnePlus One will be available at a starting price of $299 (unlocked and without contract) for the 16GB model (roughly Rs. 18,300), while the 64GB variant will be available at $349 (roughly Rs. 21,350).

The One smartphone will be launched in Q2 and will be initially available in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, the UK and the US. The OnePlus One will be available in Sandstone Black and Silk White colour variants.

The biggest new feature being touted on the OnePlus One is it runs CM11S, the customised, commercial version of CyanogenMod for the One smartphone. Notably, CM11S is based on Android 4.4 KitKat.

It features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a 1080x1920 pixel resolution and offers a pixel density of 401ppi. The display boasts Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

It comes with 3GB of RAM and is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.5GHz with Adreno 330 GPU. Unfortunately, the OnePlus One does not support expandable storage.

The One sports a 13-megapixel rear IMX214 sensor with six lenses and f/2.0 aperture that boasts quick shutter speed of only 0.3-seconds, according to OnePlus. It also comes with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC functionality. It features a 3100mAh non-removable battery.

It's worth mentioning that OnePlus has also compared the pricing of its One smartphone on Twitter to the iPhone 5s, which retails at $649 for 16GB, and $849 for 64GB. The tweet said, "How much is fair to charge for 64GB of storage?"
