With the announcement of Jelly Bean at Google I/O, yet another anxious waiting period has started for Android consumers. Most of the Android phones and tablets are still waiting to get Ice Cream Sandwich update and a new version has already been announced.

While most of the manufacturers are still silent on their Android 4.1 update plans, HTC and Samsung have released their initial comments on Jelly Bean upgrades. However, both the companies haven't said anything concrete.

As Samsung manufacturers two of the Nexus smartphones, which are set of get the Jelly Bean in mid-July, the company is likely to have early access to the Android 4.1 source code. This should result in faster updates but considering the company's track record till now, we are not very optimistic.

Here is the company's statement on Jelly Bean updates, as given to PocketNow:

"Samsung will soon announce which additional devices are eligible for the Jelly Bean update. As the world's largest smartphone manufacturer, Samsung leads the Android community with best-in-class devices like the Galaxy S III, and is creating new device categories with products like the Galaxy Note. Samsung has delivered the most Nexus-branded lead OS devices and we are pleased that Google will be bringing Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S customers the first experiences of Jelly Bean on a handheld device."

HTC was similarly vague in its statement, but we can at least expect One series of smartphones to get the update. Here is company's full statement, as given to Android Central.

"We are excited about Android Jelly Bean and are planning to support it across a variety of our devices. We are reviewing the software to determine our upgrade plans and schedule, so please stay tuned for more updates on specific device upgrade plans."
