The South Korean giant is reportedly planning to release a smartphone running on its own Tizen OS in India, sometime after the Diwali festival by November. Tizen is a Samsung-developed operating system aimed at breaking away from Google's Android system.

Samsung's Director of Media Solutions Center, South West Asia, Tarun Malik, reportedly confirmed the plans at the company's global senior management meetings, but he further didn't give the detail about the device, as per Economic Times (via Tizen Experts).

"We started late, but we are very focused. We are not shooting in the wild. This is a game that has to be led by the device manufacturer and not the pipe [telecom operators]," Malik told ET.

Malik is also responsible for promoting Tizen-based smartphones, said that "It will coexist with the Android devices."

Tizen Experts suggest that Samsung is not expected to launch the Tizen flagship it announced in June, the Samsung Z, in India. The website added it is more likely that the company will launch the budget Samsung SM-Z130E or SM-Z130H Tizen-based handsets, but not much is known about the devices.
