Xolo Confirms Android 4.4 KitKat Update for A500 Club, A550s IPS, A600, Q900s, Q1200

Xolo on Monday has announced the beta release of Android 4.4 KitKat for its flagship smartphone -the Xolo Q3000 (Review). The 5.7-inch phablet smartphone was launched with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean in December. The company also said that its will soon release KitKat updates for the Xolo A500 Club, A550s IPS, A600, Q900s and Q1200 smartphones, but didn't mention any time-frame for the roll-out.

The Android 4.4 KitKat beta update for the Xolo Q3000 is rolling out over-the-air (OTA). Users can also manually download the update from the official Xolo support site. The update according to the company will bring performance upgrades as well as the access to key features including performance and UI optimisation. It will also include the enhanced camera image quality along with better security.

"The release reinforces Xolo's commitment to offering its users best and latest technology upgrade and seamless Android experience. Xolo has been proactive in releasing Android updates across devices in all price ranges. Thanks to the dedicated engineering team who has been continuously working with the chipset manufacturers to ensure users gets the best software support," said company in the release announcement.

The Xolo Q3000 is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) comes with a 5.7-inch (1080x1920 pixels) full-HD IPS display. It is powered by a quad-core 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6589T processor coupled with 2GB of RAM.

The Q3000 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and BSI 2 sensor, while there is a secondary 5-megapixel front-facing camera which also features a BSI sensor. The phablet has 16GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD.

The smartphone packs a 4000mAh battery, which according to the listing, delivers up to 33 hours of talk time and up to 667 hours of standby time on 2G networks. The Xolo Q3000 measures 164.8x81.6x8.9 mm.

Notably, the Xolo A500 Club, A550s IPS, A600, and Q1200 were all launched with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box (the Q1200 had Android 4.2.2), while the Q900s was launched with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
