More than six months have passed since Google officially rolled out the Android 4.4 KitKat OS version in November. However, the smartphones that run Android KitKat in India have been few in number.

Popular domestic handset makers have been releasing new smartphones but with dated Android versions, and those that feature Android KitKat come with a premium price tag.

Motorola, however, has put forth a new challenge against Indian handset makers by releasing its Moto E in the sub-Rs. 10,000 segment with the most recent Android KitKat version. And the first handset vendor to accept the challenge seems to be Xolo.

Xolo has revealed its plans to release the Android 4.4 KitKat update for its smartphones - Q700S, Q1010i, Q1010, and Q3000 by June. The company even promises to release new smartphones with Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box in the coming months. Unfortunately, Xolo has not specified any details regarding its yet-to-be-launched smartphones.

Xolo recently released Android KitKat update for its Q1000 Opus and became one of the first domestic handset makers to announce Android's most recent update for its smartphones.

The Xolo Q1000 Opus natively came with Android 4.2 but has now received the Android 4.4 KitKat update, making it the one of the first smartphones in the sub-Rs. 10,000 segment to run KitKat.

Xololaunched the Q1000 Opus back in December last year at Rs. 9,999. The Xolo Q1000 Opus is a dual-SIM phablet with support for GSM+GSM and features a 5-inch FWVGA IPS display with 480x854 pixels resolution. It continues the Q range tradition and sports a 1.2GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor with Videocore IV GPU and 1GB of RAM. It sports a 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera accompanied by an LED flash and also includes a VGA front-facing camera.
