Samsung India sets 50 percent growth target in refrigerators and AC market

Home appliances major Samsung has set a 50 percent growth target for market share in refrigerators and ACs with launch of its first digital inverter-frost free refrigerators in India, a company official said on Tuesday.

The refrigerators come with a 10 year warranty offered for the first time in refrigerators, Samsung India Home-Appliance Business Head, Rajeev Bhutani said after launch of new range of refrigerators and air conditioners.

On the launch of air-conditioners, he said three inverter models have been launched ensuring energy efficiency besides looking at 50 percent jump on sales of split ACs.

We are looking at a 50 percent growth year-on-year (on market share) basis both in value and volume terms (in refrigerator and air conditioners)", Krishnan said.

According to him, the company currently holds 15 percent market share in air-conditioners, 33.6 percent in frost-free refrigerators and 24 percent in refrigerators.
