New evidence that HTC is indeed the manufacturer of the next Nexus tablet has emerged out from Taiwan.

A Taiwanese report claims that HTC's President of North Asia, Jack Tong, in a press briefing in New York revealed that the yet-to-be-launched Nexus 9 will mark "HTC's commitment" to tablet market after almost three years.

It's worth noting that HTC has maintained a distance from the tablet segment ever since it got its fingers burned with its first Android tablet, the Flyer, which was launched back in 2011.

Tong reportedly (via Gforgames) went on to suggest that the next Nexus tablet featuring an 8.9-inch display will be released in Taiwan by end of 2014 or Q4.

Reports have for a while indicated that Google might release the next Nexus smartphone and tablet in mid-October (October 15 or 16).

The alleged HTC-made Nexus tablet was recently reported to have passed through the US FCC, and was also separately pictured in a purported image.

While HTC's FCC documents accessible online did not mention the name 'Nexus 9', they did repeat the word 'tablet', and even showed the ID Label location at the back side of the tablet. Additionally, a leaked image of what's claimed to be a HTC 'T1' tablet had also surfaced and the tablet was seen with both HTC and Nexus branding. The back panel of the alleged Nexus 9 tablet in the image was seen to have a rubberised texture, similar to previous Nexus tablets.

Some of the purported specifications of the HTC Nexus 9 hint at the inclusion of a 2.3GHz Tegra K1 processor along with 3GB of RAM, a 9-inch (or an 8.9-inch) full-HD display, 16GB inbuilt storage, 100GB of Google Drive storage for 2 years, external storage support for 128GB, and the much-awaited Android L - rumoured to be named Android Lemon Meringue Pie (LMP).
