Idea offers the new Rs. 149 recharge in select circles

In order to take on Jio and Airtel, Idea Cellular - now a merged entity with Vodafone - has launched a Rs. 149 prepaid recharge with data, voice calling, and SMS benefits. The combo Idea pack is available only in few circles like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and comes with a validity of 28 days. This comes days after Vodafone Idea launched combo recharges in six denominations in select circles. These recharges offer talk time, data, and rate cut benefits with the validity spanning from 28 days to 84 days. The new Idea Rs. 149 recharge takes on the similarly-priced Airtel and Jio recharges.

The new Idea Cellular Rs. 149 prepaid recharge offers 33GB of data benefit, unlimited voice calling, and 100 SMSes per day for a validity of 28 days. Telecom Talk reports that the unlimited calling benefit comes with an FUP of 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week. Plus, users can only make calls to 100 unique numbers during the validity period.

To compare, the Rs. 149 Jio recharge offers users 1.5GB of 4G data per day, unlimited voice calls without FUP, and 100 SMS per day. Jio's pack effectively offers 42GB of 4G data for the validity period, compared to Idea's 33GB data offering. Furthermore, while Idea has an FUP on unlimited calling, Jio doesn't dictate any such terms and conditions.

Airtel, on the other hand, offers 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS per day, for a validity of 28 days. Idea wins in the data war here with 33GB offering, while Airtel only offers 28GB of data. However, Airtel also follows Jio in offering voice calling benefits without any terms and conditions, while Idea has a strict FUP.
