The Auto Rickshaw Drivers’ Union of Bengaluru has launched the Namma Yatri app that connects commuters directly with auto drivers, without involving any middlemen. The move came amid criticism of Ola and Uber who were charging Rs. 100 as base fare, even though the cap fixed by the government is Rs. 30. The app was downloaded more than 10,000 times by beta testers before it was officially launched on November 1.
