Google on Thursday announced an update for Google Glass that will let users access all their contacts on the headset.

Making the announcement on its Google+ page, the Google Glass team said that now users will be able to access all their phone contacts. It details that users will be able to find 20 contacts by voice command, while the rest can be accessed by swiping.

Google Glass users will also be able to choose how they message people via the headset. Tapping on a contact will now show options for Hangouts, email or SMS.

The Mountain View firm also added that these new features will be accessible to Google Glass users with Android smartphones as soon as they receive the update for their headsets. It specified that iOS users will have to wait a bit longer, as they will require their MyGlass companion app to be updated - which will roll out in 'the next week or so.'

Recently, Google had announced a hardware refresh for its Google Glass, hours before its I/O 2014 developer event kicked-off. The search giant had bumped the memory of Glass from 1GB to 2GB.

The 2GB of RAM would "allow for more Glassware [apps] to run in parallel and for each Glassware to start more quickly," said Steve Lee, a Glass product manager to The Verge. "You'll notice the device generally feels a bit faster and more reliable."

The Verge report additionally mentioned that new Google Glass model will run 15 percent longer between charges. It will also let users quickly access the camera section and take shots. Google has introduced a viewfinder which will show up when users say 'Ok Glass, show the viewfinder'. Once the command is given, users would see four white L's on four corners of the Google Glass screen, after which they can take a shot by saying 'Ok Glass, take a picture' with a wink, or by pushing the camera button.
