Google has announced a hardware refresh for its much-talked-about wearable device, Google Glass, hours before its I/O 2014 developer event kicks-off.

"With I/O about to kick off, we wanted to share some of the most recent improvements we'll be rolling out," stated Google Glass' Google+ post.

One of the most important improvements that Google has done for its Glass is the bumping up of its memory 1GB to 2GB. The 2GB of RAM would "allow for more Glassware [apps] to run in parallel and for each Glassware to start more quickly," said Steve Lee, a Glass product manager to The Verge. "You'll notice the device generally feels a bit faster and more reliable."

It has been additionally reported that the new Google Glass model will run 15 percent longer between charges. The new Google Glass will now also let users quickly access the camera section and take shots. Google has introduced a viewfinder which will show up when users say 'Ok Glass, show the viewfinder'. Once the command is given, users would see four white L's on four corners of the Google Glass screen, after which they can take a shot by saying 'Ok Glass, take a picture' with a wink, or by pushing the camera button.

While Google Glass already had a list of Google Now cards on its Glass, the firm has now introduced some more cards that will remind users where they have parked their cars and will let them track their packages.

Notably, the software update is rolling out to all Glass users now. However, the users would have to buy the new Google Glass in order to experience the 2GB of RAM. Users in the UK, where the Glass went public recently, can also buy the 2GB of RAM version. It would also appear that since the firm has given an update just before the Google I/O 2014, it might not reveal any further information at the event.

Google launched its new travel-related Glassware last month, including a few more applications, such as Tripit, Foursquare, OpenTable, Field Trip, Word Lens, Google Now, Search and Maps.
