Nintendo's Miitomo App Now Available on Android and iOS in India

Miitomo — Nintendo’s first smartphone app for Android and iOS is now available for download in India. This comes a whole eight months after it was first available the world over.

Like most current day services, a Nintendo Account can be linked to other accounts, such as your Nintendo Network ID (if you have one from using a Wii U or 3DS), Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ account. You can then use those accounts' user name and password to sign in to your Nintendo Account.

If you don't want to use or don't have one of the accounts listed above, you can still create a Nintendo Account using your e-mail address. At the of writing this, creating a Nintendo Account and signing in with one, has seen multiple errors. Hopefully Nintendo fixes this at the earliest.

That aside, there’s a small download after the initial install via the app itself and it works as it should with any of the aforementioned social accounts.

Miitomo’s in-app purchases are in the way of coins which you can use to purchase cosmetic items for your avatar or Mii as it’s known as. These include hats, costumes, and a host of other things to customise your Mii with. You can also earn coins by completing in-game tasks. But if you’re going the route of paying for coins, they range from Rs. 60 for 1,000 coins to Rs. 4,600 for 105,000 coins.

The availability of Miitomo could be a sign of things to come. Off late we’ve remarked that while Nintendo’s games and consoles have been available in India, the company itself never had an official presence. Could this mean we’ll see the likes of Super Mario Run and Nintendo’s other mobile offerings hit India too? Or dare we suggest that the Nintendo Switch could see an official India release? Only time will tell.
