Volkswagen Taigun GT Line, GT Plus Sport Launched

Volkswagen has unveiled the Taigun GT Line and GT Plus Sport variants, priced from Rs 14.08 lakh and Rs 18.54 lakh respectively. The GT Line, equipped with a 1.0-litre engine in manual and auto options, features blacked-out styling elements like 17-inch alloy wheels and a chrome-deleted exterior. Both variants offer premium features like a 12.3-inch display, Level 2 ADAS, and a vehicle-to-load function. Competing with models like the Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo and Kia Seltos X-Line, these Taigun iterations aim to appeal to buyers seeking distinctive design and enhanced performance in the compact SUV segment.

Xiaomi Eyes 100,000 SU7 EV Deliveries in 2024

Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant, is gearing up to deliver 100,000 units of its first electric vehicle (EV), the SU7, this year. Founder Lei Jun revealed that as of April 20, locked-in orders for the SU7 have surpassed 70,000 units. The company's president, Lu Weibing, attributes this strong momentum to users' trust in Xiaomi. The SU7, available in standard, Pro, and Max trims, saw its official launch on March 28, with deliveries starting soon. With a factory in Beijing boasting a planned annual capacity of 300,000 units, Xiaomi aims to match production to meet demand, particularly prioritizing higher-trim variants.

Chinese Firms May Miss Out on India's EV Policy Concessions

India's electric vehicle (EV) policy is set to attract global players, but Chinese firms like BYD might miss out due to national security concerns. India's FDI rules restrict direct investments from China, impacting companies seeking concessions. The policy offers a 15 percent duty rate, contingent on a minimum investment, but Chinese firms may not meet the criteria. India's stance is notable given China's dominance in the EV market, with over 35 percent of global exports. While India allows Chinese vehicle imports, it hesitates to welcome their investments. This decision underscores India's cautious approach to safeguarding its interests amid geopolitical tensions.
