Yahoo! seems to be the latest target for hackers. According to Ars Technica, login details of more than 453,000 site users have been compromised and posted online.

If the sources at security firm Trusted Sec are to be believed, the compromised server was part of "Yahoo!! Voice" which was earlier known as Associated Content. However, this speculation is based on the fact that string in the dump -"dbb1.ac.bf1.yahoo.com" - which belongs to a subdomain associated with Yahoo!'s voice service.

The security firm also mentioned in the blog post that they were alarmed by the fact that all the 400,000+ passwords were stored completely unencrypted and the same are now available publicly.

It is noteworthy, that only last month, passwords of social networking sites LinkedIn were compromised and more than 6.4 million accounts were breached. At that time, LinkedIn director Vicente Silveira stated in a blog post, "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused our members. We take the security of our members very seriously."

Following this incident LinkedIn provide an additional layer of online security for its users and claimed that all member passwords were now "salted".

As for the Yahoo! incident, so far the company has not officially acknowledged any such breach.
