Xiaomi has unveiled crayon-like Mi Rainbow 5 AA batteries. Priced at just CNY 9.9 (approximately Rs. 100), the batteries come in a pack of 10 cells. The new Mi Rainbow AA batterry has been manufactured by one of Xiaomi's suppliers, Zmi, which also produces the Mi Power Banks. Unfortunately, there is no word whether the batteries will launch outside China.

The Mi Rainbow batteries pack carbon rod from Japan's Maxell, and can last for 7 years from manufacturing date claims Xiaomi. The company touts that the batteries can come handy during travel time.

According to a recently concluded survey by IDC, Xiaomi captured around 5 percent of the global smartphone market share, bringing it to fifth place behind Huawei and Lenovo.

Recently, the unannounced Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro was claimed to pass through certifications in China. The 3C certification in China showed smartphones with model numbers 2015617, 2015611, and 2015056, which might be the variants of Redmi Note 2 Pro. The alleged Redmi Note 2 Pro has been leaked previously as well and is likely to arrive in two variants. While one would house a fingerprint sensor on the back panel below the rear camera, the other variant would completely miss out on the particular feature.

The Chinese company is also likely to launch its first smartphone in the US as the Redmi 2 Pro passed US FCC certification website. The listing hinted that Xiaomi's upcoming entry into the US smartphone market will be sooner than later, but then again, not every device certified by the FCC ended up being launched in the US market. The Redmi 2 Pro appears to be the US variant of a recently launched Xiaomi phone, the Redmi 2 Prime, launched in India back in August.
