Echo Spot is the first Alexa-powered smart speaker with a screen in India. The screen can be used to not just display videos and other information but also for making video calls. At the heart of the product is Alexa, the digital assistant that powers the other Echo speakers, and comes with the same capabilities, or Skills as Amazon calls them, so you can pretty much do with the Spot as you could do with the speakers, with the addition of a display. While the Echo Spot’s always-listening microphone and the camera raise privacy concerns, you can switch these off by pressing the button on top. Audio playback on the Spot, priced at Rs. 12,999, is done via the bottom firing speaker. It is loud enough to fill a medium size room up but the audio can do with some more bass. The 1.4-inch speaker can deliver good mids and decent highs but lacks bass causing it to sound a little tinny. Watch our full Amazon Echo Spot review video to find all about the device.
