The search giant on Tuesday announced the Notification Sync feature for Google Glass for Android smartphones, which brings all the notifications of the paired device on to the heads-up display - previously, only notifications from select compatible apps were shown.

Google says that it will roll out the Notification Sync update to Glass this week, and an updated My Glass app (v3.3.0) will also be required, one that will be available from Wednesday.

"Today we're launching Notification Sync on Glass, which means you can see your Android phone app notifications at a glance. You may have already seen this with Android Wear, but now when you put Glass on, you can get the information you need when you need it-all without taking your phone out of your pocket," said company on Google+ post.

Google has also posted a small video for instructions (see below). Users will need to turn on Notification sync from the app settings and allow MyGlass access to all notifications posted by the system or any installed app.

Previously, Google had updated Glass with the ability to access all contacts on the headset. Making the announcement in August, Google Glass team had detailed that users will be able to find 20 contacts by voice command, while the rest can be accessed by swiping. The Mountain View firm had allowed Glass users to choose how they message people via the headset, with a tap on a contact showing options for Hangouts, email or SMS.
