Indus Appstore, Motorola India Enter Partnership

In a press release, PhonePe announced the partnership between Indus AppStore and Motorola India. As part of this deal, the Indian Android app marketplace will be available in Motorola smartphones and tablets in the country. The company said that the partnership will enable wider distribution for the marketplace, and offer Motorola users to experience a personalised app discovery experience.

“We are delighted to partner with Motorola to offer an extended set of Indians seamless access to the Indus Appstore experience[..]The app store, that truly embodies the Made-for-India spirit, is looking at an inflection point to revolutionise the Indian app economy,” said Priya M Narasimhan, Chief Business Officer, Indus Appstore.

Notably, this is not the first partnership the app marketplace has forged with a smartphone manufacturer. Previously, it has also struck similar deals with Xiaomi India and Lava, and Indus Appstore already comes pre-installed on their devices out of the box. While the company claims it is also the default marketplace, Gadgets 360 staff members did not see that in Xiaomi handsets.

The Indus Appstore was launched on February 21, 2024. It offers several features such as a personalised in-app experience, AI-powered voice search, and support for English and 12 Indian languages, such as Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, and Tamil.

Indus Appstore has more than five lakh apps, including Flipkart, Ixigo, Domino's Pizza, Snapdeal, JioMart, Bajaj Finserv, and more. The company also says that every app listed on the marketplace is tested for malware and security risks.
