After mimicking Fortnite's Battle Pass on mobile earlier this week, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is set to introduce a paid, timed event with the arrival of the new Sanhok map on Friday, June 22: it's called Event Pass, and it helps you unlock more cosmetic customisations. Alongside, PUBG on Steam is also going on sale for a limited period, with a 33 percent discount.
The PUBG Steam sale is to celebrate a new milestone: the battle royale game has sold over 50 million units on PC and Xbox combined. The new discount brings the price of PUBG down to Rs. 669 in India, and $20 in the US. The sale is now live, and will be available till Thursday, July 5.
As for the new 'Event Pass', which will last for a month starting June 22, here's the official description:
Just like the crate and key system, you’ll be able to get rewards in the Event Pass system regardless of whether you made a purchase. If you haven’t paid for the pass, you can temporarily unlock many of the items (and earn one special item permanently). However, you can also permanently unlock a ton of exclusive reward items by paying to unlock the pass and completing certain missions to “level up” your pass. If you’re hesitant about buying the Pass, but want to play the missions, you’re free to do that. And your mission progress is always tracked, so you can buy the Event Pass late in the event and still get all the rewards you’ve earned.
The Event Pass will includes dozens of missions, including daily, weekly, and Sanhok-specific ones. As it says above, you'll be able to play the missions even if you don't buy the pass, but you'll have to fork out money if you wish to keep the rewards permanently. Moreover, the rewards aren't tradeable so the only way to get them is to play the game.
