BlackBerry appears to be all set to jump on the bandwagon of bezel-less smartphones with a new handset codenamed 'Ghost'. According to latest rumours, the BlackBerry Ghost is a premium smartphone that will launch in the Indian market, and it appears to have a bezel-less 18:9 display. The handset will reportedly be made by Optiemus, a Delhi-based telecom enterprise which signed a licensing agreement for marketing and manufacturing BlackBerry devices in India, as announced in February last year.

As per the leak by tipster Evan Blass, the Ghost smartphone will be made by Optiemus. Blass shared an image on Twitter which reveals a sleek design of the handset. However, there is no clarity on the details regarding its specifications. Though, it is clear that there is definitely no mechanical keyboard on this smartphone.

As per Blass, the premium smartphone comes with a rather slim bezel and runs Android, but that is all there is to know about the smartphone as of now. Also, there is no information on when the BlackBerry Ghost will arrive, but it is good to see the company put up a fight in the premium smartphone market. Notably, it is possible that the handset may only be an India-exclusive smartphone. For now, the actual name of the handset has yet to be revealed.

BlackBerry had stopped designing and building its own smartphones back in 2016, instead licensing the brand out to others. TCL holds the license to manufacture most BlackBerry smartphones globally, such as the KeyOne, Motion, and DTEK60. TCL holds the right to make and sell BlackBerry-branded smartphones in all countries except India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh. BlackBerry also has agreements with BB Merah Putih to manufacture and distribute smartphones in select regions.
