Qualcomm's top-end mobile processor, the Snapdragon 810, has been one of the SoCs from the popular chipmaker that has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The company however made some tweaks to the SoC to resolve the issue before launching it on the LG G Flex2 in January, and then later the HTC One M9 in March.

However, select handset OEMs have since then claimed the Snapdragon 810 SoC they've used has been revamped to fix heating issues, just to make sure that consumers don't get confused with their choice of chipset. First, Xiaomi in May announced it was using Snapdragon 810 v2.1 on its Mi Note Pro handset, and then OnePlus in mid-June said its upcoming OnePlus 2 flagship will ship with Snapdragon 810 v2.1.

HTC's Jeff Gordon, Senior Global Online Communications Manager, took to Twitter clarifying that most smartphones are using the Snapdragon 810 (v2.1) chipsets, including the HTC One M9.

Gordon wrote on Twitter, "It's interesting that some OEMs are positioning use of the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor as a product differentiator vs. v2.0." The tweet clearly pointed to OnePlus that was teasing the use of the new version of the Snapdragon 810 on its upcoming OnePlus 2.

In his following tweet, he said, "The truth, according to what Qualcomm tells me, is virtually all OEMs who've announced devices with Snapdragon 810 are currently using v2.1."

The tweet by Gordon was clearly a move to remove disambiguation of Snapdragon 810 version use by OEMs.

To recall, OnePlus while teasing the usage of Snapdragon 810 chipset had even suggested that they worked closely with Qualcomm's engineers for fine-tuning both hardware and software. It had noted, "Although there have been reports that the 810 runs warmer than its predecessors, we assure you that we have taken all the necessary precautions and beyond to prevent this from occurring in the 2. We worked very closely with Qualcomm's engineers to integrate an improved version of the chipset (v2.1) in the OnePlus 2, and fine-tuned both hardware and software. The 2 will be 'cooler than ever'."

In other news, HTC's Mo Versi, VP, Product Management, while replying to a user on Twitter confirmed that the Android M update will be coming to HTC One M8. Versi however didn't give any timeline for the release of the update. HTC's USA Twitter handle in the same conversation said, "We don't have any info on that at this time. Once we do we'll share the news here."

To recall, HTC launched its One M9 at MWC this year.
