Xiaomi at its Beijing event on Tuesday unveiled new variants of its Mi TV 3S television. The new Android-based smart televisions from the Chinese company feature an ultra-thin form factor and a metal body. The 65-inch variant has been priced at CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs. 49,800), while the 55-inch variant has been priced at CNY 3,499 (roughly Rs. 34,900). A Home Theatre edition was also launched, priced at CNY 5,999 (roughly Rs. 59,800).

Detailing the form factor of the Xiaomi Mi TV 3S, the company says it is 9.9mm at its thinnest point, and 37.6mm at its thickest. It features an anodised aluminium alloy frame, which the company says bears an embossed double 45-degree diamond cut. It bears a brushed aluminium back panel, evidently beautifying it for those rare occasions where the television will be viewed from behind.

The 65-inch variant features a Samsung display panel with a 4K (3840x2160 pixels) resolution and NTSC 85 percent colour gamut. The 55-inch variant features a LG IPS display panel with a 4K resolution. Both are powered by a 64-bit Amlogic T966 processor, which features four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz, apart from a quad-core Mali-T830 GPU. The chipset on board is paired with 2GB of RAM, and there is 8GB of inbuilt eMMC storage.

Other features of the Xiaomi Mi TV 3S include a Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth v4.0 connectivity. It can display 4K content at 60fps with the H.265 hardware decoder - and Xiaomi says the television is powered by its fifth generation image quality engine. The television supports HDR, and the OpenGL 3.1 standard. Also on board are four speakers for the standard independent sound system including a sound bar, while the company is also touting Dolby and DTS hardware-level decoding.

The company alongside also unveiled the Lei Shi KTV wireless microphone, to be used with the TV. Priced at CNY 599, it is powered by the Cirruslogic CS47L35 professional audio processor.

The new Mi TV 3S features a new Patch Wall puzzle interface, what the company calls "the first TV system with AI in the world". Details on this front are scarce. It includes the company's Mi Brain technology, a machine learning based recommendation engine.
