It's been a long time coming but it's finally here now and Android users can rejoice, perhaps. Age of Empires: Castle Siege is now available on Android, after being launched for Windows Phone back in 2014 and iOS a year later.

For those wondering, Age of Empires: Castle Siege is the brain child of Microsoft, as the company wanted to create a spin-off of the original successful franchise. Although traditionally based on RTS, Castle Siege doesn't play like one, but rather Microsoft's take on Clash of Clans. The gameplay for both essentially requires you to build your empire and protect it against the enemy. You'll also need to train your squad and command them in battle to destroy your enemy. You'll get to choose one among several civilizations such as Britons, Teutons, and Kievan Rus, upon which you will build your defenses.

Notably, you can also sign in to the game with your Xbox Live account which will allow you to continue playing from where you left off across Android, iOS and Windows. The Age of Empires game also lets you research technology depending on the time period, which can be a little time consuming. Some well-known heroes from history will also be seen in Age of Empires: Castle Siege, including Saladin, Richard the Lionheart, as well as Joan of Arc, and you can even recruit them to your side.

Age of Empires: Castle Siege is a free-to-play game but you will need to purchase in-app currency if you wish to speed up the construction of your empire. The game can be downloaded now from Google Play.
