  • HDR content is available just for premium subscription
  • Apple TV 4K already supports HDR content streaming via Netflix
  • Galaxy Note 8 recently received the support for HDR content

Apple launched its new Apple TV 4K earlier this month and while the device already streams HDR videos from Netflix, HDR support for more iOS devices has been added. With the latest Netflix app update on iOS, the support for streaming HDR videos has been added to the yet-to-be-released iPhone X and iPad Pro models.

Netflix version 9.37.0 is optimised for iOS 11, apart from adding HDR video support for iPhone X and iPad Pro (models that feature HDR support). Notably, only those users will able to access HDR content who have the top-tier subscription to the service. To recall, Netflix recently added the support for HDR to Samsung Galaxy Note 8 as well as Sony Xperia XZ1 smartphone earlier this month.

With HDR support, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Sony Xperia XZ1 joined the select group of phones that currently support HDR content on Netflix. The list of Android phones that currently support HDR content on Netflix includes the LG V30, Sony Xperia XZ Premium, and the LG G6 as well. Just like on iOS, on Android as well, users need to have the top subscription to the service, which costs Rs. 800 in India and also provides the simultaneous support for 4 screens.

As we pointed out in our earlier report, Netflix recommends you've an Internet connection of 25Mbps to stream 4K HDR. However, HDR functionality can still be availed at lower resolutions if the net speed is an issue.
