Television adaptation of Korean-American author Min Jin Lee’s 2017 New York bestseller novel of the same name.
The tri-lingual show follows four generations of a poor immigrant Korean family that moved to Japan when the country captured then-unified Korea.
Storyline in the original book begins in 1813 and quickly moves over to 1910 and then 1989. Some of the primal themes include institutional racism, prejudice, and intimacy.
