Handset manufacturers including Lenovo, Motorola, and Huawei's Honor among others have already revealed Android 6.0 Marshmallow update plans for their smartphones. The latest in the series is Asus, which has revealed the list of its handsets that are set to receive Google's latest Android build.

The Taiwanese company on its official forum confirmed that it is planning to roll out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the PadFone S, ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML/ZE551ML), ZenFone 2 Deluxe / Special Edition (ZE551ML), ZenFone 2 Laser (all models - ZE500KG/ZE500KL/ZE550KL/ZE600KL/ZE601KL), and ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL).

Unfortunately, the company as of now has not revealed the release time-frame for update.

A leaked Android 6.0 Marshmallow update list back in October had also tipped that Asus will bring the latest build to its ZenFone 2 series. It however had claimed that Asus will also bring the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5, and ZenFone 6 in its second phase. So far, the company has not revealed any plans about its second phase rollout.

Some of the new features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow (previously just Android M) include revamped app permissions; Google Now on Tap feature; new Chrome feature that will change the Web experience for Android users; new ways to handle Web links; Android Pay mobile payment system is now official with Android M; new fingerprint APIs for developers to add into their apps, New Silent feature for sound and vibrate mode as well as a 'Do Not Disturb' mode to block all sounds or only alarms and notifications, and battery saver features called Doze that will make Android devices smart about managing power. Some of the other additions include new RAM manager, adoptable storage devices, new app drawer, auto backup and restore for apps, and support for USB Type-C ports.
