Two of Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC's top executives are reportedly leaving the company. According to a Bloomberg report citing people familiar with the matter, Chief Marketing Officer Benjamin Ho, and President of Engineering and Operations Fred Liu, have resigned.

According to the report, CMO Benjamin Ho has formally put in his resignation to Chairwoman Cher Wang. Wang, who founded the company in 1997, will take over as CMO, said the report.

Fred Liu's resignation on the other hand, coming after working 16 years for the company, is said to be a retirement, and he is said to stay on till the end of the year until a replacement is found.

Benjamin Ho had become CMO in 2012, while Fred Liu had replaced Matthew Costello for the President position last year in June. Both Ho and Liu are expected to remain in their roles for few more months.

While HTC did not respond to Bloomberg's report, an official spokesperson told GSMarena, "HTC's dedication to innovation drives us to pursue our goals. We are taking the necessary steps to create a resurgence of the HTC brand. As a company, we will continue to push forward, making the hard decisions needed to continue growing as a global presence. We are confident that the business steps we have taken, and continue to take, are the right ones to lead to a strong resurgence of the HTC brand. HTC continues to invest in talent and recruitment as part of our broader human resources strategy to ensure the continued strength of our company's organizational structure."

The Verge also updated its report on the matter, saying that it has been informed that "the two departing members of staff are being 'fired in a nice way' rather than resigning. Fred Liu has already been stripped of most of his oversight duties, while Ben Ho has apparently been 'out of the picture for months'."
