Apple has reportedly adjusted the production ratio in favour of iPhone 6 Plus, as it seeing much higher demand than anticipated for the large iPhone model.

According to sources from the upstream supply chain cited by Digitimes, Apple has already adjusted the production ratio for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, although it will not affect supply immediately with productions adjustments usually taking time to reflect.

The Digitimes report adds that currently most component suppliers' inventories and manufacturers' production lines are not sufficient for the extra iPhone 6 Plus orders, and will require some time to ramp up production.

Digitimes' sources claim that iPhone 6 shipments in the second half are expected to be 3-4 million units lower than the original expectation, with the supply chain shifting resources from the smaller model to the iPhone 6 Plus.

Previously, a report had claimed that Foxconn, Apple's biggest assembler, is struggling to ramp up production to meet Apple's renewed demand for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, despite operating production lines across the clock.

Notably, in the first 24 hours of the US pre-orders opening, Apple said it had received a record 4 million advance orders for the both new iPhone models. Obviously struggling with the demand, Apple had also increased the iPhone 6 Plus shipping time to 3-4 weeks.

After being rolled out to the second wave of countries on September 26, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are due to hit China and India on October 17. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus China bookings had reportedly hit the 2 million mark in the first 6 hours.
