The phones will feature photochromic designs
Xiaomi is reportedly preparing to launch the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Note 17 Pro Max in India next month. A new leak has pointed to the probable launch date for the two smartphones, along with a possible price increase over the previous generation. The new models are expected to bring upgrades across key areas, including the display and battery. The Redmi Note 17 series is already confirmed to make its global debut on August 27, ahead of the expected India launch.
According to an X post by tipster Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh), the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Note 17 Pro Max will launch in India on September 15. The tipster also expects the new Pro models to cost around Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 8,000 more than the Redmi Note 15 Pro series. He noted that the phones will focus on large displays and big batteries.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro series is expected to feature a 6.83-inch flat OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Earlier reports have linked the phone to the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset and a 9,000mAh battery with 67W charging. The phone could also have a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 16-megapixel front camera.
Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is expected to retain the 6.83-inch 120Hz display but could use the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset. Xiaomi's global listing rates its battery at 10,000mAh, and the phone will support 100W fast charging. The company has also confirmed that the retail box will not include a charger.
The global Redmi Note 17 series will use a 6.83-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution. The lineup will also carry IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance. The company says the phones have received SGS and TÜV SÜD certifications. The Redmi Note 17 series will feature photochromic designs, including a Cloud Blush finish that changes colour in sunlight.
Camera details remain limited, but Xiaomi has confirmed AI-powered portrait enhancement. The Note 17 Pro Max is tipped to feature a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 32-megapixel selfie camera. A sample shared by Xiaomi lists an f/1.5 aperture, 26mm focal length, 1/60-second shutter speed and ISO 125.
