Just a day ago we saw a the New York Times report mentioning that the Galaxy SIV will have some new 'Smart' features called 'Eye Scroll' and 'Eye Pause' for which the company has already filed patents in the months of January and February for Europe and US respectively.

SamMobile has received a few Galaxy S IV screenshots that 'confirm' these features as Smart Scroll and Smart Pause. The screenshots reveal that Smart Scroll will be functional with multiple applications such as Internet web pages, Chrome, Messages and Gmail as well. One of the screen shots shows the Smart Screen section specifically accessible under Settings, which lists various 'Smart' features.

Update: SamMobile has updated their report to indicate that though the screenshots were taken on a Samsung Galaxy S III running Android 4.2.1 firmware, their source indicates the features will be available in Samsung Galaxy S IV as well.

Smart Scroll will allow the content on the screen to scroll automatically (considering the feature is turned on) if the device detects your attention towards the screen. Smart Pause, on the other hand seems to be restricted to videos, which will be paused once you look away from the screen.

While Smart rotation will adjust viewing angles of the device for you, another familiar feature is Smart Stay as seen on the the Samsung Galaxy S III. The feature uses its front-facing camera to keep the screen alive or lit up when a person is looking at it and automatically dimming it when one looks away.

Coming back to Smart Scroll, you will also be able to set the speed of scrolling as per your convenience. Another thing under your control will be acceleration that determines the scroll speed. This basically means to let the phone know whether or not to look for vertical head movements while scrolling. You can opt to keep this on or off.

Furthermore, the blog points out the similarity of the UI when compared to the Galaxy S III. But Samsung is expected to showcase a version 2.0 of the Nature UX interface introduced last year. According to Samsung, the Korean company will be focusing more on new software features, instead of flaunting hardware advancements.

Samsung will be launching its latest flagship on March 14 at an event scheduled at Times Square, New York 7PM EST.
