Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are the company's upcoming flagship phones slated to launch at the Galaxy Unpacked event ahead of Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona. While the design and features of the Galaxy S9 series might not be much of a departure from its predecessor, the pricing is surely expected to surprise some Samsung smartphone fans. A recent leak suggests that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be priced higher than any other Galaxy S variant seen in the past.

Smartphone leak expert Evan Blass (aka @evleaks), through a tweet on Thursday, revealed pricing details for the upcoming Samsung flagship phones. According to Blass, the Galaxy S9 will start at EUR 841 (roughly Rs. 67,200) and the Galaxy S9+ will start at EUR 997 (roughly Rs. 79,600) in unnamed European markets. Interestingly enough, pricing of the Galaxy S9 range has been speculated differently by different sources globally, although all point towards a steep hike.

Previous reports have suggested that the Galaxy S9 will be sold in the UK with a price tag of GBP 739 (roughly Rs. 66,900) or even a higher GBP 800 (roughly Rs. 72,400). For the Norwegian market, rumours have suggested a pricing of around NOK 8,790 (roughly Rs. 72,500) and NOK 9,790 (roughly Rs. 80,700) for the Galaxy S9+. Lastly, US pricing was reported to be $850 (roughly Rs. 55,100) for the Galaxy S9 and $950 (roughly Rs. 61,600) for the Galaxy S9+. With the latest leak, however, we can expect the official pricing to be higher than the ones reported in the past.

Considering how most of Blass' leaks have been consistent with the real deal, this kind of inflated pricing is apparently a take on Apple's premium pricing strategy with the iPhone X. We still have to wait till Sunday to get official word on it.

Some reports suggest the phones will be up for pre-orders starting February 28, while others say itmight be from the date of launch, that is, February 25. Availability is also under ambiguity, with reports ranging expectancy from March 8 to March 15.

Most of the internals, specifications, and features of the Galaxy S9 series have been outed, and the pricing information is the last key in the series of leaks leading up to the event. Check out our Samsung Galaxy S9 rumour roundup for all the details.
