Google’s Pixel 10a is nearly identical to the Pixel 9a it replaces. There are minuscule design changes as well. With faster charging being the only real-world improvement over the previous model, can the humble Pixel 10a stand up to the brutal competition at the lower-end of the premium segment in India?
More Google Pixel 10a NewsGoogle's Pixel a series of smartphones evolved from what were essentially mid-range devices into premium devices in India. While the transition did not make sense until the 7a, the 8a introduced some premium features like a high-refresh-rate display, wireless charging and an updated chipset to keep up with the times. With the Pixel 9a, we saw a complete redesign, one that stands out even today with the launch of the Pixel 10a. There's no device that looks like it, and there is currently no device in its segment which offers the same bloatware-free Pixel software experience (with the usual Pixel smarts). But in this competitive premium segment, does Google's a-series formula hold any water in 2026?
The Google Pixel 10a is essentially a carbon copy of the Pixel 9a. It has a compact form factor and a minimalist design that feels quite premium with some minor changes to the flat camera module. The phone also retains its IP68 rating.
The display has thick borders but overall offers good visuals and gets very bright. These are accompanied by great-sounding speakers. Performance is not an issue and the phone can power through 3D games without much effort and maintain sustained performance.
There are just two rear cameras but they offer rock solid still imaging at their native focal lengths. The selfie camera also does a good job but the video recording quality leaves a lot to be desired.
Battery life is good for a compact device and can easily last a whole day of casual or heavy use. Wired and wireless charging are now faster but still slow compared to the competition.
