Samsung’s Galaxy M36 is one of the more confusing smartphones we have come across this year. The M36 aims to outdo its fairly tolerable predecessor, the Galaxy M35, with a cosmetic upgrade. This decision results in a smaller battery, which leaves it trailing behind its competitors.
More Samsung Galaxy M36 5G NewsIn India's rather competitive budget smartphone segment, smartphone brands constantly strive to offer more value. Year on year, manufacturers attempt to introduce at least one new feature that may make headlines, but more often than not, they end up adding value. Indeed, only a few of these budget offerings come close to delivering the experience they promise on paper. The Galaxy M35 was Samsung's robust budget offering, which aimed to deliver the basics. It stood out mainly because it delivered on some fronts in spite of its humble processor. However, unlike the Galaxy M35, Samsung's new Galaxy M36 offers a brand-new design, but instead of adding new features, it ends up cutting down a few.
Samsung’s Galaxy M36 has a design with a buffed and slippery matte-finish back. This is coupled with a matte-finished frame with flat sides which gives it a fresh and modern appearance.
Part of this image is ruined by its display, which has a dated waterdrop notch. However, it's of the Super AMOLED variety and performs well in terms of colours and contrast.
Its processor is a bit dated as well and isn’t ideal when paired with its moderately sized battery, which results in below average battery standing power. Charging too is quite slow and Samsung does not offer a charger in the box.
Camera performance in daylight is decent, but poor in low light. The selfie camera also performs well in daylight. Video performance is quite good, but this only applies to footage captured in daylight.
