Xiaomi Mi Box 4, Mi Box 4c Smart TV Boxes With AI-Based UI and 4K Support Launched: Price, Specifications

Xiaomi on Monday unveiled the fourth-generation Mi Box in China. The Chinese company had announced the Android-powered 4K HDR smart TV box in two versions – Mi Box 4 and Mi Box 4c. While the Xiaomi Mi Box 4 is priced at CNY 349 (roughly Rs. 3,500) and the Mi Box 4c is more affordable as it is available at CNY 249 (roughly Rs. 2500). Meanwhile, the registrations for the devices are now open and the sales will start February 1 in China.

The new smart TV boxes are the successors to the Mi Box 3c and Mi Box 3s that were launched in 2016. Xiaomi had brought the two devices with the same AI-based user interface PatchWall. Notably, the first Mi Box was unveiled at Google I/O 2016.

The Mi Box is a standalone set-top box running Android TV, and can be used to stream 4K video content. The Mi Box 4 packs Xiaomi’s PathWall artificial intelligence based user interface. It enables users to browse content using voice search in the remote control. It is also able to learn user's viewing habits and suggests content based on their preferences. Additionally, the Mi Remote Control works with most smart appliances. The smart TV box also supports 4K HDR video along with Dolby Audio + DTS-HD audio decoder output.

The Mi Box 4 is powered by an Amlogic S905L quad-core Cortex-A53 64-bit processor with a 3+2 core Mali-45 GPU. It packs 2GB RAM and 8GB internal storage and gives 4K (3840x2160) HDR output at 60fps. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, one HDMI 2.0 port, and one USB 3.0 port. There is a 3.5mm composite output as well.

When it comes to the Mi Box 4c, it offers similar features to that of the Mi Box 4. However, the difference is in the RAM and Bluetooth support. The Mi Box 4c sports 1GB RAM. Also, while the Mi Box 4 includes Bluetooth 4.1 LE support, the Mi Box 4c uses infrared.
