Garmin has launched the Vivofit 4 daily activity tracker as the successor of the Vivofit 3. The new wearable is touted to deliver up to one-year of battery life and features an always-on display. It comes in White, Limegreen Speckled, and Black colour variants with a price tag of $79.99 (approximately Rs. 5,100) and is available in the US via Amazon.com. Garmin is also selling interchangeable accessory bands in a Speckled Merlot and Speckled Navy combo pack at $29.99 (roughly Rs. 1,900) and individual bands in Speckled Black and White colour options at $19.99 (approximately Rs. 1,300).

The Garmin Vivofit 4 comes with a coin cell battery that can last for as long as 12 months. There is a sunlight-visible, transflective eight-colour, memory-in-pixel (MIP) display that offers basic features such as time, date, timer, stopwatch, and a step counter. A widget to view day's current weather can additionally be set. Also, there is a built-in accelerometer that helps users track their different activities, including walking, running, biking, and swimming. The wearable device can set a countdown timer and even allows users to find their misplaced phone with a press of a button.

Similar to other Garmin fitness tracking devices, the Vivofit 4 has Move IQ feature that enables the wristband to detect changes in user's movements and automatically and classify different activities. There are also enhanced options such as sleep tracking and intensity minutes that you can access right on your connected smartphone. Likewise, you can use the Garmin Connect app to customise the Vivofit with various watch faces, colour themes, and personalised text such as an emergency contact or a motivational phrase.

"An activity tracker is only as effective as how often you wear it, and this is where the Vivofit 4 really shines - you can set it and forget it," said Dan Bartel, Garmin Vice President of Worldwide Sales, in a press statement.

While the Garmin Vivofit 4 has tons of features and a refreshed design over the Vivofit 3 to persuade fitness freaks, its year-long battery life makes a distinct option in the market. The wearable even overcomes the issue of daily charging that has so far resisted many buyers to pick the premium Apple Watch or a competing fitness band from companies like Fitbit and Samsung.
