Xiaomi is one of very few new brands in the laptop space, but its huge footprint across the Indian smartphone and TV markets means that it isn't a new name. Brand recognition and trust are important when spending large amounts of money. Of course, the Chinese giant is best known for offering excellent value in the entry-level space, and it will be interesting to see how that translates to laptops. We've already reviewed the premium Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition model, and now it's time to take a look at how Xiaomi is catering to more budget-conscious laptop buyers.
Xiaomi Mi Notebook 14 Summary
The Mi Notebook 14 is more affordable than the Mi Notebook 14 Horizon edition, but loses some of the premium styling and specifications. It weighs 1.5kg and is under 18mm thick. You get a 14-inch full-HD anti-reflective screen, which is somewhat dull but has good viewing angles. All three variants use the same quad-core Intel Core i5-10210U processor which is based on the 'Comet Lake' architecture, and have 8GB of DDR4-2666 RAM which is soldered and not upgradeable. You can choose between a 256GB or 512GB SATA SSD, and optional Nvidia GeForce MX250 discrete GPU.
The design is minimalist and there's no logo on the lid. You don't get many ports, and sadly there's no USB Type-C at all. Performance is good enough for everyday usage, but even with the discrete GPU, don't expect to play modern games. This laptop can get a bit warm when stressed but is otherwise easy to use on the go. The keyboard is adequate but the trackpad could use improvement. Battery life is also good as long as your usage isn't too heavy.

Good package in this priceAshish Sardana (Jul 27, 2020) on Gadgets 360 RecommendsAfter 2 weeks of usage: Mi 14 with NVIDIA GEForce 250 MX Pro: Looks, Style, weight, display Not played games, but performance is excellent for normal applications, no lag. Battery life is good (8 hours+ normal usage and charges quickly) Cons: Color: Personally I like Black color, Silver is fine, may be inspired from Macbook Camera: Video meetings are norm these days and attaching an external camera is a hassle, (Good that you can move it, without moving the laptop) Trackpad: People may find it different but will get used to, in few days. SD Card Slot: I use SD Card rarely, it's missing in this laptop. Overall a good laptop in this price for above average usage.Is this review helpful?
