India Funding Roundup: CashKaro, Absentia, Flashdoor, Octathorpe, Taskbucks

CashKaro
Gurgaon-based CashKaro, a Web-based platform offering cashback and coupon offers announced Monday it has raised Rs. 25 crores in Series A funding from Kalaari Capital. Founded in 2013 by Swati and Rohan Bhargava, the company had earlier raised $750,000 in 2013 in angel funding.

In an emailed statement, CashKaro claimed to have credited over Rs. 20 crores as cashback and driven over Rs. 500 crores in GMV (Gross Merchandise Volume), and a growth rate of 30 percent month on month.

Absentia
Bengaluru-based Absentia, makers of Tesseract, a virtual reality head mount device have reportedly secured $180,000 (Rs. 1.2 crores) in seed funding led by Astarc Ventures.

Founded in 2014 by BITS Pilani Goa dropouts Shubham Mishra, Vrushali Prasade and Harikrishna Valiyath, Absentia showed off its Tesseract VR headset at the recently held IGX in Mumbai.

FlashDoor
Bengaluru-based on-demand laundry service provider FlashDoor has reportedly raised an undisclosed sum of angel funding from former and current Flipkart executives and Tracxn Labs.

Flashdoor reportedly conducts 1,500 transactions a month and plans to take the count to 30,000 by March 2016, and plans expansion to two other metro cities.

Octathorpe
The Chennai Angels have reportedly made an investment of $250,000 (roughly Rs 1.65 crores) in Hyderabad-based startup Octathorpe Web-Consultants, the makers of cricket management game T20 Manager. The game, which has a monetisation model based on in-app purchases has clocked over 50,000 downloads on Google Play.

Taskbucks
Times Internet has reportedly invested $15 million (approximately Rs. 100 crore) in Taskbucks to pick up a majority stake in the mobile platform that rewards users for completing micro-tasks. "We will soon be launching Taskbucks Pro, a premium version of Taskbucks where users can perform real-world tasks for brands, to earn more," said Kumar Apurva, CEO, Taskbucks, which has over 5 million downloads on Google Play.
