Google has been constantly working towards making its YouTube mobile experience better for users. Keeping that in mind, the search giant has now started showing YouTube vertical videos properly as a complete full screen for its Android users.

Instead of rotating the video content 90 degrees on tapping the full screen, which is not helpful at all, the updated YouTube app for Android fits videos vertically. With older versions of the app, such as the YouTube v10.25 currently available on google play, vertical videos become only slightly larger in landscape mode.

The new full-screen vertical video orientation comes with YouTube v10.28, which hasn't yet rolled out globally. A Google-signed apk can however be sideloaded (via Android Police), if users are impatient to try out the new feature. Users can test it out on this YouTube video. There is no news as to when the feature will roll out to iOS.

Earlier this month, Google brought the60 frames per second (fps) video playback feature to its Android and iOS apps. The feature was first rolled out for desktop users and was initially supported by Chrome and Safari browsers. With the rollout of 60fps live-streaming, any live stream on YouTube at 60fps was transcoded into stream of 720p60 and 1080p60, which showed up smooth playback for gaming and fast-paced video.

Last month, Google launched the YouTube Newswire. The initiative will draw on user-contributed videos on YouTube such as those which have been important sources for events such as the Arab Spring uprisings and protests in Ferguson, Missouri.
