We were fairly impressed with the Dell Venue 7 and Venue 8 which we reviewed almost exactly a year ago. Dell has only just decided to get serious about the Android tablet world, and despite some flaws, the first two Venue models were pretty good for their asking prices. In the time since then, Dell has launched an updated model in India. These were first shown off at Computex 2014, and are currently available in our market.The big new thing this time is the inclusion of voice calling. A lot of people feel that if you're going to have a SIM card for cellular data, you might as well be able to make and receive voice calls. On the other hand, there's the staggering impracticality of holding a 7-inch tablet up to your face or plugging in a headset every single time the phone rings. Dell has left the choice up to the buyer, and so versions of the 2014 Venue 7 (and Venue 8) with and without voice and data are available. We have the voice-enabled 2014 Dell Venue 7 in for review today.
Dell Venue 7 (2014) 3G Summary
The refreshed Dell Venue 7 (2014) comes in a Wi-Fi-only version and a LTE- and voice-enabled version. Unfortunately with the latter, the LTE capability doesn't work on Indian bands, but voice calling is supported for those who want it. Thankfully performance is significantly improved compared to last year's model, and battery life is quite good too. The tablet has a sturdy rubber body and feels a lot better than similarly priced devices from smaller brands. On the other hand, the camera is quite mediocre.

Even after, calling the customer care, I was not able to get the exact model number. However, taking a leap of faith based on the other reviews, I decided to buy this tab at Rs. 6849. The tablet was delivered within two days at Cochin, which is comparatively faster delivery as the tab was coming from Kolkotta. Tablet details: Model: Dell Venue 7 3740 RAM: 1GB DDR3 16 GB Internal Memory 5 MP rear camera with auto focus. Antutu Score: 30496 (after loading the tab with some games and apps) Final verdict: A value for money product with decent performance. Suitable for surfing, reading and watching movies and, occasional gaming(Not too heavy games)Is this review helpful?
