Naughty Dog, developer of the highly acclaimed Uncharted series of games has let slip that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will be delayed by almost a month.

The game was slated for a March 18 release next year. This was announced barely a month ago during Paris Games Week. However, Naughty Dog employees - Neil Druckmann, Creative Director, and Bruce Straley, Game Director - took to the PlayStation blog to announce the delay. Unchartered 4 will now launch on April 26 in the US, April 27 in PAL territories (including Europe and India), and April 29 in the UK. The reason cited was to ensure it met the team's vision and standards for the game.

"This is our largest Uncharted game to date, and the team has been working incredibly hard to meet the challenge of closing out the game's development in a timely manner. However, as we approached our final deadlines and started wrapping up the game's levels, we realised that several key sequences needed extra resources to bring them to the finish line," the duo wrote on the PlayStation blog.

"After carefully considering all of our options, we decided to extend our schedule, making sure that we get a few more polish passes before submitting our gold master (the final disc for manufacturing)."

A month's delay isn't exactly too shabby when we consider Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, and XCOM 2 have all been postponed by at least three months. And if it ensures that gamers aren't on the receiving end of a massive day one patch, all the better.
