PlayStation 4 owners hoping the recently announced EA Access game subscription plan for the Xbox One would be headed their way should not hold their breath. Following the EA announcement on Tuesday, Sony on Wednesday responded negatively to media enquiries about offering the same subscription to PS4 users.

Sony told Game Informer that the recently announced EA Access subscription for the Xbox One did not represent good value for its customers. "We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect.

PlayStation Plus memberships are up more than 200 percent since the launch of PlayStation 4, which shows that gamers are looking for memberships that offer a multitude of services, across various devices, for one low price. We don't think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer."

The Japanese consumer electronics giant's response via email to Game Informer boasted of the rise in the number of PlayStation Plus memberships by 200 percent since the launch of PS4, and said the offering was a superior choice for users as it offered a multitude of services across devices.

For those unaware, EA on Tuesday had announced the EA Access subscription for the Xbox One, offering gamers unlimited access to select EA titles at a monthly subscription of $4.99 (approximately Rs. 300), and an annual subscription of $29.99 (approximately Rs. 1,800). EA Access is initially being rolled-out in beta to a test group of Xbox One users, and the company promised the subscription will be available for all players soon. During the test phase, players will get unlimited access to FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Peggle 2, and Battlefield 4 with more titles to be added.
