Nintendo's next generation Wii console continues to keep the rumour mill churning. The latest, from Gameinformer.com - Wii 2 may feature ATI's R700 series GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) clocking in at 900MHz making it 80% more powerful than the XBOX 360 GPU that clocks in at 500MHz. The PS3 RSX GPU clocks in at 700MHz.
Simply put it looks as though the Wii 2 will be able to hold its own against the current Sony and Microsoft consoles.

Another report from 01net indicates that the controller of Nintendo's next gen home console will have an inbuilt screen. Some speculations suggest that the screen may or may not be HD as well as touch sensitive.

More rumours, and this one's a shocker; blu-ray.com has reported that Nintendo is "considering" the blu-ray disc format developed by Sony as the disc format for the console. Ign.com has reported that there will be first and third party Wii 2 games unveiled at E3 2011.

Nintendo, however, maintains a wall of silence and has not confirmed or commented on any of the rumours

With the announcement of Sony's NGP, rumours of Microsoft updating the disc format for the XBOX 360 and now the Wii 2, gaming news in 2011 just got a whole lot exciting. Stay tuned as all rumours and speculations will be put to rest as E3 kicks-off on June 7. Watch this space for the complete low down.
