One of the standout announcements of Microsoft's Windows 10 event earlier in the year was the ability to stream Xbox One games to PCs and tablets running Windows 10. With merely days before Windows 10 is to be rolled out to the public, the Redmond-based company has divulged all the necessary details required to make this possible.

According to a blog post by Xbox's Director of Programming, Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb, the company has taken the streaming function out of preview and bringing it to all with an Xbox One and a PC or tablet with Windows 10. This can be enabled via the settings menu of the Xbox One. On your PC or tablet, you'll need to add your Xbox One via the connect feature.

Hyrb also outlined new gaming and social features for the Xbox app on PC. These include party chat, profile customisation, Xbox avatars, and day one experience, which helps newcomers to the Xbox ecosystem set up their account and gamertag.

In order to get streaming working, you'll need to be running the latest build of Windows 10 on PC. The Xbox app on Windows 10 will update the moment a new version is available. On receiving the update, your version number should be 7.7.16004.00000 or higher. You can verify the version number of the Xbox app on Windows 10 under settings.

With Windows 10 available from July 29 onwards, it will be interesting to see what else Microsoft brings to the table in what quite possibly maybe its most robust OS release yet.
