Russia-based Internet security solutions provider Kaspersky aims to capture 25 percent share of the Rs. 600-crore consumer software security market in the country, by launching newer products to focus on mobile phones and tablet PCs.

The company claims to have more than 15 percent market share currently.

"About 2 lakh new malware samples emerge everyday compared to 1.25 lakh a year ago. Cyber-criminals are hijacking online bank accounts and social networking profiles. Users are now more concerned about security and use software to protect their devices," Kaspersky Director Channel Sales (South Asia) Jagannath Patnaik told reporters Mumbai.

However, about 65 percent use free downloads or pirated security software, which still makes them vulnerable to attacks, he said.

"Our target is to reach these people. Also, a number of users now access Internet on mobile phones and tablet PCs. So there is a need to protect these devices and this market is huge," he said.

Currently, contribution from solutions for mobile phones and tablet PCs to overall sales is negligible, said Patnaik.

"We already have solutions in the market but we will soon launch a new one for Android devices. Mobile phones and tablet PCs are a special focus. We expect this to grow substantially in the next two years," he added.

In India, Kaspersky aims to increase its share from 15 percent to 25 percent in the next one year, he added.

Other security software providers in the country include Symantec, McAfee and Trend Micro.
