After unveiling a pool of Desire-branded smartphones recently, HTC seems to be getting ready for expanding its mid-range line by introducing the Desire 8 handset. The news comes from reports which are citing purportedly leaked images and specifications.

The alleged HTC Desire 8 is expected to be announced with price and availability on 18 March 2014. The yet-to-be-announced mid-range dual-SIM device is said to feature a 5.5-inch display with an unspecified pixel resolution and will reportedly be the first HTC device to be released after the HTC Desire 700, as reported by My Drivers, a Chinese website.

It has been also reported that the alleged HTC Desire 8 will include a 13-megapixel rear camera, ditching the UltraPixel technology first seen with HTC One. The handset will also include a high 5-megapixel front shooter with a 'beautification' mode, which so far has not been described in detail.

The handset design is said to share the feature which has now become a signature in HTC handsets - stereo front-facing speakers. The Desire 8 will reportedly also feature on-screen buttons instead of capacitive.

The firm has been also been rumoured to be developing the successor to the HTC One mini, thought to be codenamed HTC M8 mini - a device that was purportedly been spotted in various leaks across the web. According to a tipster, the handset will include a 4.5-inch 720p display-powered by quad-core 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset, coupled with 1GB of RAM. It is said to feature the Sense 6.0 UI on top of Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Further purported specifications of the M8 mini include a 13-megapixel rear camera, and 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It looks that the smartphone might come in only one model with 16GB inbuilt storage with the microSD card expandability option, while the expansion limit remains unknown, but we expect it to be 64GB.
