HTC recently launched the only 'One' flagship device for the company this year running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and skinned with an overhauled Sense UI. Android Police now reports that the Taiwanese manufacturer will be bringing the latest Sense 5.0UI to its previous offerings including the first full-HD Butterfly, One X+, One X and the One S.

HTC seems to have stated this piece of information while answering a question about upgrades to a user on its Facebook page. The company said that it will be "offering upgrades to some of its existing devices in the next few months". That said, the software update won't include all of Sense 5 features, as some are dependent on the HTC One hardware.

Here's the response from HTC in full:

HTC will be offering upgrades to some of its existing devices in the next few months, including global variants of HTC One X, One X+, One S and the HTC Butterfly. Also, note that some features enabled by the new HTC One hardware will not be available in the software updates.

While you may think, the statement nowhere mentions the Sense 5.0 UI, folks over at Android Police have a confirmation from the company clarifying the more generalised statement. HTC will indeed be bringing the latest Sense UI to the aforementioned devices as part of a software update in the future.

For those unaware, HTC launched the One X and One S as part of its high-end duo in the One series, running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and HTC Sense 4. HTC had offered users Sense 3.6 on some of its older devices, thought they were just slight modifications of the Sense 3.5 version. Sense 4 was only available as pre-installed on a device.

The Droid DNA, US version of the Butterfly, seems like a worthy contender too, even though the company hasn't mentioned it on its list. But we have seen the device sporting the Sense 5.0 UI in previous leaks.

It isn't clear exactly as to which features of the Sense 5.0 UI will make it to these older devices. It's safe to say that neither of the devices, the HTC One X, One X+ and One S match upto the Butterfly in terms of RAM nor do they have the latest Snapdragon 600 processor or the updated ImageSensor processor as seen in the newly launched HTC One.

We'll certainly have to wait this one out until HTC helps us put the missing puzzle pieces together.
